Mud, mud, glorious mud !

Q. What do you get if you cross a bucket of clay slip, poster paints and calico with a room full of home educated children ?
A. Funky wall hangings, of course !

This was the day we tie-dyed our clothes, ate home grown African food and got fully in the mood for our forthcoming day of African drumming.

And drum we did! There were plenty of sore hands by the end of the afternoon - but we could at least all say that we cold bang out a rhythm on a djembe, and if we were feeling really melodic, sing a song in Gambian mother tongue too !

One of the few sunny days we've had this year - all wrapped up with a taste of life a little bit nearer to the equator.

In preparation for the drumming workshop the children created original Jamaican styled clothing using tie-die designs.

They used different colour dyes, marbles, shells, elastic bands , buttons etc to create individual designs (as shown here).Becky.
